A straight-cut jersey T-shirt with short set-in sleeves and a neckline finished with a folded band. Four pattern pieces, and a good first project in knits.
Front and back are joined at the shoulders and sides, the sleeves are set into open armholes, and the neckline is finished with a band folded in half and stretched slightly as it goes in.
The whole shirt can be assembled on a serger, or on a regular machine with a stretch stitch, and the hems are finished with a twin needle.

Nine steps, from laying out the pieces to the final topstitch.
Lay out all the pattern pieces. Pin them to the fabric. Cut out the fabric along the pattern's edge.
Cut out the neckband from the main fabric if needed. The width of the neckband is 3–6 cm (1.2–2.4″), the length of the neckband is the length of the neckline × 0.8.
Fold the neckband in half with the right sides together, pin and stitch along the short edge. Fold the neckband in half with the wrong sides together and press.
Pin the front and back together with the right sides along the shoulder edge. Sew with a serger. Press the allowances to the back.
Pin the sleeve into the open armhole, aligning the notches, right sides together. Sew in place. Press the allowances to the sleeve.
Fold the sleeve in half, pin the side edges of the sleeve, front and back with the right sides together. Sew all together with one stitch using a serger.
Divide the neckband and the neckline into 4 equal sections. Pin the neckband to the neckline, matching the notches. Sew in place using a serger, stretching the neckband a bit as you go. Press.
Fold the hem of the sleeves and the bottom of the T-shirt. Stitch with a double needle. Press.
Topstitch the neckline, fixing the allowances. Press.
